*Note: Our 'Host Manual' (Community Organizations section) is currently being updated to reflect program and form changes which include Service-Learning projects as well as Community-Based Research projects. We appreciate your patience as we work to bring you these updates.
Who can be a Host Organization?
Any Organization, small business or individual can propose a project for consideration. However, please keep in mind that your project must involve tangible benefits to the social, cultural, environmental and/or economic life of Haliburton County. The project needs to be of educational value to students, making use of their university skills and training.
Your Role
Host organizations and supervisors have certain responsibilities, and can expect certain things from U-Links and the student carrying out their project. The "Your Role" section for Host Supervisors explains this in detail.
Submitting a Research Proposal
Our Project Proposal Form is available online (see below), and we have a Guide to your Proposal that will walk you through the steps involved in drafting your proposal (note: this Guide is currently being updated to reflect program changes).
We accept proposals at any time. All proposals submitted to us are reviewed and may require a period of development before they are suitable for promotion and matching. Matching projects with students happens primarily in September and January.
Student Placement
Once a proposal is submitted and approved by the U-Links committee, it is promoted to Trent students as a research project. This section outlines the process of matching a student to a project, and getting the project started.
Follow-Up
The Follow-up section discusses a couple of things that may need to be taken care of after a project is done: evaluations and providing a copy of each report for the U-Links library.
